Current Training

Due to current restrictions no training groups are being offered 

Updates will be available once the new year COVID restrictions are reassessed

I am prepared to offer training to groups of 3 if you have a small group looking for some training during this current time of restrictions. Due to the nature of the training, I do not run my programs on line. I feel it is important to protect participants who potentially may be triggered if they have their own trauma histories.

Titles include:

 

Trauma Reactions and Trauma Treatments

             recognising some of the familiar patterns of trauma and the neuroscience behind why we do what we do. Understanding patterns from

             different perspectives, incuding those of trauma experts (neuroscience, fragmented self, somatic experience). Taking away the jargon for 

             better understanding of the processes

 

Avoidance an attachment

             recognising attachment styles - including updates since Bowlby and Ainsworth. Recognition of attachment capabilities and attachment                     disorders. Understanding how this information can be helpful when working with an avoidant personality

 

Bereavement and Grief: Loss and Abuse. Working with complex grief

             covers complex grief around murder, suicide and abuse. Learning to say goodbye when the endings are complicated and complex

             

 

Domestic abuse and violence

             recognising the patterns and traumatic reactions from both violent and abusive relationships. 

 

Suicide and self harm

             recognition of suicidal patterns and self harm. Understanding the different types of suicide, and how this changes. Understanding self

             harm, and how to work with both suicidal and self harming behaviours. Dispelling myths

Awareness and creative working with abuse workshop 
             understanding what constitutes abuse, and creative therapeutic ways of working with abuse. Although creativity can be used in many                      different ways, this workshop will explore some of the methods effective with clients who have suffered abuse

Sex and sexuality in conjunction with abuse
             covers the taboos of sex and abuse, and the implications on a persons sexual being and sexuality. This workshop aims to break down                    some of the taboo's associated with both abuse and sex. In order to optimise learning, the day will look at the realities, without being 'too                heavy'. Some of the topics covered will be to expand the comfort zone - dispelling the myths around homosexuality - understanding                        intimacy and fear - the law / justice - repression / dissociation - incest - awareness of safe sexual practices - normalisations around abuse

Abuse and shame
             awareness of shame and the impact of shame in conjunction with abuse
             exploration of how people defend against shame, and using healthy shame to heal
​             this is a massive topic, and covers some of the basic shame based actions / behaviours regarding abuse and shame


Abuse: PTSD and Dissociation
            understanding trauma processes and the advantages / disadvantages of dissociation. Understanding the biology and learning to stay with               emotions. Healing and feeling
            
Inner Child Awareness and Experience
​            Theory behind inner child work - giving it structure. Listening to and working with the inner child. This is an experiential day, and will 
​            include getting in touch with your inner child, and giving them a voice. Fun and Freedom!!

Phototherapy in healing from abuse
            using personal photographs to connect with healing. 
            exploration of all the elements that combine to make photographs a powerful healing tool

The Healing Tree
           growing from abuse: using trees / nature as metaphors. Post traumatic growth

Neuroscience meets counselling (in conjunction with Gillian Bush)
           not as scary as it may sound. recognising the impact of the brain / biology in the counselling room. Biopsychosocial models: 
           brain structures and understanding the brain. biology as well as psychological and social models, and the impact in the counselling room.                Will include: stress, depression, bipolar, OCD, Anxiety, PTSD

Workshops are £60 per day. 


Continued Professional Development certificates are provided for attendance.
Files are too big to print (without using a rain forest!) so if people would like to bring a memory stick, I am happy to put resources onto that for them.
